2013 Slice of Pape

Wild and captivating aromas of black plum and dark berry fruits, with lifted notes of lilac, dried tobacco, black pepper and incense. The wine is delicately layered with a light, rustic texture and lifted purity of fruit. Flavors of strawberry and wild fig combine with elements of dried herbs and spice, while soft lacy tannins gradually flesh out the palate to a lingering, perfumed finish.

Winemaker Notes

Our 2013 Slice of Pape is an intriguing blend of three grape varieties native to the French Rhone region – Syrah, Mourvedre and Grenache. Grapes were harvested from mid September to mid October with intense color, rich aromatics and spicy fruit flavors. Components were vinified individually and underwent malolactic fermentation in once-used oak barriques. The final blend was assembled from barrel and returned to large French oak puncheons for 22 months’ maturation. This is an aromatically compelling blend, with an excellent intensity to its sweet, spicy fruit flavors.
