2016 Pinot Gris
A pure and fragrant nose showing intense aromas of fresh
pineapple, kiwi and white peach beneath notes of
chamomile, white flowers and dried straw. The wine is silky
and seamless in texture with exotic fruit flavors of guava
and lychee, lifted by a fresh saline minerality. Lightly
toasted notes of honeycomb, crushed hazelnut and crème
brûlée are underscored by a firm, driving acidity, drawing
out the palate to a powerful and long-lasting finish.
Our Pinot Gris grapes are sourced from Lawrence
Vineyard, a high elevation site at 1675ft on the Royal Slope
in the Columbia Valley AVA. These grapes produce
intensely aromatic wines that show fully developed flavors
while still maintaining a strong acid backbone. The clusters
were whole-bunch pressed into neutral French oak barrels
and concrete egg, and fermented with native yeast until dry.
Regular stirring of the lees helped to impart richness, depth
and persistence to the finished blend, balancing out the
high natural acidity of this unique site.

Our complete lineup of Tranche wines is sliced into two different series: our ‘Rhone Series’ and our ‘Single Varietal Series’.
Grapes native to France’s Rhône Valley are the focus of our ‘Slice of Pape’ program – our homage particularly to the blended wines of the Southern Rhône. Slice of Pape, Pape Blanc, and Pink Pape (our dry rosé) are crafted from the best of these traditional varietals. Separately and together, they offer you a New World expression of these classic Old World wines.
Single Varietal Series
And finally, the cornerstones of our portfolio, we produce limited quantities of varietal wines, each focusing on a single grape. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Syrah express the terroir of our Blue Mountain Vineyard in Walla Walla. The Chardonnay comes from our Celilo Vineyard in the Columbia Gorge AVA, renown for growing the finest Chardonnay in Washington State. In these wines you can taste the grape’s unique character – its aromas, flavors, texture and detail.
