Tranche Cellars

“It’s about being true and authentic to the classic styles of wines in the world.

Throughout our Estate Vineyards, we cultivate a diverse collection of some of the world’s most interesting grape varietals.”

Lauri Corliss

2012 Syrah Estate

Lifted floral notes of violet and lavender combine with deep aromas of blueberry, plum and tobacco leaf. The wine is fresh and focused on the palate, with flavors of wild blackberry, fresh currants and hibiscus. Silky, fine-grained tannins slowly expand across the palate, continually building in intensity without ever overshadowing the purity of the fruit. A classic example of cool-climate Syrah.

Winemaker Notes

The Tranche Syrah is harvested from exceptional blocks within our Blue Mountain Estate Vineyard. Cool temperatures throughout the 2012 growing season produced deeply fragrant wines with high natural acidity and purity of bright fruit flavors. Our Syrah blocks were harvested in early November and hand-sorted into two-ton, open-top fermenters. Individual lots were basket pressed at dryness and filled into new and once used French oak puncheons and barriques for period of 22 months. The finished blend was racked and then bottled, and received a further 24 months of bottle maturation prior to release.
