Flagship Red Vertical Food Pairing Guide

A Wine Club Exclusive Feature

Tranche wines can certainly be enjoyed on their own without a meal, but we love exploring the nuances of flavor that exist between wine and food. In celebration of the Flagship Red Vertical 6-Pack that we’re offering exclusively to our wine club, we’ve put together a mini-guide on how to pair these high-caliber red wines with your next meal.

Featuring two vintages of our Flagship single-variety red wines, this vertical 6-pack allows you to explore the similarities and differences between the 2013 and 2020 vintages of our Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Syrah with herbed dishes

Our Syrah’s spicy notes pair especially well with meats and dishes that have been seasoned with fragrant herbs like thyme, oregano and rosemary. We love Tranche Syrah with an herbed pork sausage that’s been thrown on the grill. When it comes to a vegetarian option, we recommend it with brined and grilled eggplant.

Cabernet Franc with grilled vegetables or meats

Tranche Cabernet Franc has wonderful herbaceous and savory notes that pair well with the smokiness of the grill. A medium-body wine, it brings versatility to your pairings. Try it with lighter vegetables as well as proteins. In the summer, we love it with grilled zucchini as well as barbecued chicken or burgers.

Cabernet Sauvignon with red meat

Cabernet Sauvignon is excellent with juicy red meats. The wine’s signature full-body structure cuts through the marbled fat content found in a steak or rack of lamb. When paired together, the wine’s tannins become velvety, and the fatty richness of the meat becomes more balanced.

But if a steak isn’t on your typical menu, you’ll love Tranche Cabernet Sauvignon alongside mushroom risotto, specifically portobello or shiitake. The wine’s bold flavors are the ideal complement to the earthiness of the mushrooms.
